"Style is an individual revelation of one’s sense of self and creativity."
— Ellen Eppie
Ellen Eppie, founder and chief curator of our boutique has always been passionate about sharing the things that she loves. Invigorated by art, travel and different cultures, Ellen has a knack for finding and giving the perfect gift.
Scooch A Mi was born from Ellen's love of family, friends and community, along with her positive energy and zest for life. As a child, Ellen was always underfoot when her dad was trying to work on something. The name Scooch A Mi is what Ellen's father lovingly called her when she was young. It means pain in the neck - derived from the Italian words for bother me. The Scooch A Mi logo represents Ellen surrounded by her two daughters, her greatest accomplishments thus far!
Building and nourishing relationships between family and community, comes naturally to Ellen. While raising her daughters, she began volunteering, fundraising, and planning charity events for schools and non-profit organizations in her community. As her youngest daughter went off to college, Ellen worked as Director of Volunteer Services for a large non-profit organization. In search of a better work-life balance, she changed careers and became a stylist for a local clothing store then business manager for a jewelry entrepreneur.
When Ellen decided to create her own boutique she immersed herself in all aspects. Even the renovations! The result is a distinctive boutique where Ellen's passion of bringing out each person's individuality and spreading the idea of Mindful Kindness is exhibited in every item.
