Googling age defiant brings up a whole lot of anti-aging creams, serums, and miracle products. That wasn’t what I was looking for. I was researching how other women did not let their age define them and began new ventures. If you would have asked me ten years ago what I would be doing today, “Opening my own boutique,” would not have been my answer. Not sure what my answer would have been. Most likely traveling. That is still in the cards!
I have met so many amazing women of all ages who do not let age put up any boundaries for what they can do or where they can go. When I decided to open a boutique, I realized one component was to go out there and network in addition to learning all the other aspects of running a business. I am so glad I did this.
First of all, that saying, “It takes a village” applies to just about everything. You don’t have to go it alone. Yes, of course, there are instances when it’s all about you doing your best. You often must prove you can do it – mostly to yourself! How great is finding that you are not out there all by yourself? That other women have been there, done that and are willing to share their knowledge and expertise with you. Even more exciting, cheer you on!
It’s fabulous to sit in a room full of women of all ages and realize, we have come a long way, baby! We can learn from women of all ages. Each generation has something to bring to the table. I feel that us more “mature” women are learning to partner with each other. Back in the “day” we had to act and dress like men to succeed in business. There was course after course of telling you forget the purse, grab the briefcase, don’t show your figure or femininity. Tell that to the young women of today and take a quick step back as they take you on! You go girls!
Coming back to topic, my message is GO FOR IT! Don’t decide you shouldn’t because of age – younger or older. Let’s all stand up and be Age Defiant!
